HMAS Deloraine Sinks Japanese Submarine I-124 60 miles west of Darwin on 20th January, 1942. This occurred just 6 weeks after Pearl Harbour and about 8 weeks after the loss of HMAS Sydney. I-124 was the first Japanese Naval unit to fall victim to the Royal Australian Navy. (by Clay)
