These trees, like those on the north side [left hand column], were virtually denuded by late January.

At the time in mid Feb when the photos were taken they had started to regrow at the tips of their branches.

No damage visible despite caterpillars being present.

Controlled but not eliminated by aerosol surface spray, sprayed in a band around the trunk above reach of young children.

In these photos there was no obvious damage visible from a few metres away.    Seen close to, there was visible damage but very minor at some of the branch tips. I would have needed a very good digital camera with zoom to show it here. [Now if someone out there is feeling overly rich and super-generous........ :-]

There are more photos to go here, but the packet containing the prints for scanning seems to have gone 'walkabout' for the moment.

Probably it has been 'tidied' up by a certain well-meaning soul, so we must wait for a few months of highly entropic, domestic ebb and flow to occur before it 'turns up'. Hmmmm.

The photos in question were taken with a simple re-cyclable camera and include shots of the stumps in our garden. As of March 2006 these stumps are still sprouting shoots with great vigour. Topical application of glyphosate AKA 'roundup' AKA 'Zero' using a paint brush does better than simply breaking the shoots off.

Many pages on this site are unfinished, some are only just started.
They are none the less here because it is the ideas that are important.
You don't have to believe what I say about things, but if you come across a new way of seeing your world as a consequence of reading something here then your ability to think and act freely has been enhanced.
If that be so then my efforts have been worthwhile.
