Hello, my name is John Welsh and I live in the leafy suburb of Roleystone, Perth in Western Australia, with my wife, Mary and son Robby.

This is a picture taken of me in the cockpit of my lovely Hornet glider after a successful cross-country flight at Beverley (WA) which has been my home from home for more than thirty years.

I have over 6,000 hours of private flying, including 1,300 hours as a Private Pilot, 4,000 hours solo in gliders and 1,300 hours as a Glider Instructor/Coach.

I am presently employed by the Gliding Federation of Australia as their Executive Officer. I started that job on 1st August 2005, and it was a pretty steep learning curve. It is a part-time position, leaving me some time to follow some other pursuits (Yeah, right!)
