Clockwork Orange

The late Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece from the book by Anthony Burgess. A movie with multi-levelled appeal.
It  was a film which amongst other things, predicted what tomorrow's society might look like. It asked us to consider the rights of society vs. the rights of the individual. It questioned our right to get it wrong. Kubrick was very disappointed that some people misunderstood his use of violence in the film. He refused for years to allow it's release on video or to be shown in the UK.

Airplane! (Flying High)

A Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker collaboration. One of the funniest movies you will see. A marvellous spoof of all those Airport type disaster movies made back in the 70's. It was titled "Flying High" in Australia for some reason. A sequel was also made based upon flights to the moon in the space shuttle. If you like to laugh, then you will enjoy this sophisticated verbal slapstick.

The Naked Gun

Another of the Zucker/Abrahams/Zucker stable. Capitalising on Leslie Neilsen's talent for deadpan humour demonstrated in their previous production (Arlplane!). Good send-up of all those cops and robbers shows of the 60' and 70's. Spawned 2 sequels - and who knows? Hopefully more to come.

Monty Python & The Holy Grail

Best of British humour. The first single-themed movie from the Monty Python crew - John Cleese, Graham Chapman, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and Terry Gilliam. The french castle scene is a classic. Life of Brian and The Meaning of Life , were the follow up movies by the group. Sadly, Graham Chapman died in 1989.

Life of Brian

Very funny and controversial movie. Spawned a lot of good old fashioned christian intolerance from the bible - bashing southern states of the US of A. Where 'Holy Grail' appeared to be an amalgam of loosely related sketches, this movie had a discernable plot and a message.

The Wall

My favourite musical?....... I find this a little nostalgic, having been born in 1950's England. Great music and awesome Gerald Scarfe animation. The movie caused a lot of friction between the creative elements involved. Roger Waters' creation was not surrendered to the movie makers easily, yet for all the friction, it works. Perhaps a movie for Pink Floyd fans only. Starred Bob Geldof as 'Pink'.
