We purchased Fibber as a 6 month old weanling from the Glenormiston Connemara Pony Stud in Queensland.  He was dark bay at birth and is currently steel grey.  He passed his stallion classification on his first application at only 2 and a half and has performed successfully in the show ring.  He was broken in when he turned three and was a delight to handle and ride.  He is forward moving, responsive and eager to learn.  In 2006 he was the best ridden Connemara Pony stallion at the Perth Royal Show.  This was also Carlisle's ridden show debut in Australia, her first ridden show for more than forty years!  (See Royal Show pictures above). It is a credit to his temperament that his first ridden outing was so successful.

At the first W.A. Connemara Pony Action Group Show Fibber starred in all areas with wins and places in hand and under saddle in dressage, showjumping and novelties, all the time ridden by a novice! (photos pending).

Fibber is by the outstanding imported Irish connemara pony stallion Castle Baron, who comes from an extended family of supreme prize-winning connemara ponies, full sisters Castle Duchess and Castle Urchin in Ireland and full brother Castle Comet in England.  Castle Baron has for four consecutive years won supreme champion pony over all breeds in Queensland and has had a big impact on connemara pony breeding in Australia. Fibber's mother, Glenormiston Lizzie Diamond, is also bred from all Irish bloodlines and has an international registration.  Click here for the Glenormiston Website.

You can read more about Castle Baron, pictured above, and Glenormiston Lizzie Diamond on the Glenormiston Connemara Pony Stud home page.

As a shaggy fat foal Fibber gained the nickname "the shonky donkey".  One of our friends admired our ponies and then looked at Fibber and said, "I love your ponies, but what is the name of your donkey?" He has outgrown the shagginess but somehow the nickname has stuck, specially when he "helps" people doing things like weeding his paddock!

We have purchased Glenormiston Dundrum as a potential second stallion for the stud.  He will suit Fibber's fillies when they are old enough to breed. He is a super colt with a lovely temperament.  Photos above taken by Sue Clarke at Glenormiston Connemara Pony Stud when Dundrum was 5 months old.

Photos below were taken by Den L. Scheer and show Dundrum playing in his paddock at Powderbark Connemara Pony Stud at 14 months.

Dundrum has settled in well and is still playing.
